About The Role

It's an exciting time to join Oritain. We're growing and have three full-time Laboratory Technician I roles available, working Monday to Friday from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm. As a Laboratory Technician I, you'll join our commercial laboratory team with a clear development pathway, gaining the skills, experience, and competencies needed to progress to a Laboratory Technician II role. You'll support laboratory operations through sample preparation and processing, accurate data recording, and maintaining ISO 17025 quality and safety standards, helping deliver high-quality results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, prepare, and process samples in accordance with laboratory SOPs and quality requirements, including ISO 17025 standards.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures and accurately record all required information within LIMS and other laboratory systems.
  • Support the maintenance of ISO 17025 accreditation through quality control activities, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with maintaining appropriate supplies of laboratory consumables and reagents.
  • Follow all Health & Safety, biosafety, and safe work practices to help maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Contribute positively to team culture by consistently demonstrating Oritain's values and collaborating effectively with colleagues across the business.

Skills & Experience

  • A good knowledge of general laboratory techniques, with some practical hands-on experience in chemistry, analytical testing, or research environments.
  • Familiarity with mass spectrometry, sample preparation, and/or stable-isotope or trace-element analyses.
  • Understanding of, or experience working within, ISO 17025 quality systems and laboratory quality frameworks.
  • A tertiary qualification in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or a related science discipline is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly spreadsheets, with a high level of attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, seasonal, and high-throughput environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across laboratory teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, supported by a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with a range of laboratory and operational tasks during peak periods.
