We are seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to provide specialist mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care for patients across inpatient, outpatient, and/or community settings. This role will suit a clinician who is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care and enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support people through complex mental health needs.
Role Overview
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental state examinations, risk assessments, and clinical formulation.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to the needs of each patient.
- Provide treatment across a range of mental health conditions, including pharmacological, psychological, and psychosocial interventions.
- Manage a clinical caseload across inpatient, outpatient, and/or community mental health settings, depending on service requirements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to collaborative care planning.
- Provide clinical leadership, advice, and supervision to junior medical staff, registrars, and other healthcare professionals.
- Liaise with primary care providers, NGOs, community agencies, and other services to support coordinated and continuous care.
- Work alongside patients and wh?nau in a way that is respectful, culturally responsive, and recovery focused.
- Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement, and service development initiatives.
- Adhere to professional, ethical, and legal standards, including those set by the Medical Council of NZ.
- Engage in continuing professional development, supervision, and appraisal processes.
- Contribute to a safe, supportive, and high-performing clinical environment.
- Support best practice in patient safety, risk management, and clinical decision-making.
