Systems Specialist – Finance Systems Support
Mō Mātou | About us
At ASB, we're more than a bank — we're a purpose-led organisation helping people, communities, and our environment thrive together. With a proud history and a clear vision to support New Zealanders in getting one step ahead, our work is guided by the values of Courage, Care, and Curiosity. We're bold in challenging the status quo, we genuinely care about those we work with and serve, and we're always exploring new ideas to improve how we work.
As one of Aotearoa's most trusted banking partners, we offer the scale and stability of a large organisation, while recognising and valuing each person's contribution. Your ideas, growth, and impact matter here, and you'll be supported to do meaningful work every day.
Mō te Tūranga | About the role
We're the squad that keeps ASB's core finance and procurement systems running smoothly. From day-to-day support to working on some complex and interesting problems, we're here to make sure the tools our finance teams rely on are reliable, scalable, and continuously improving.
You'll be part of a small, tight-knit team that has real autonomy where we make our own decisions about how we prioritise and get things done. Your voice matters here, and your ideas will help shape how we work.
Key Skills & Experience
We work as a fully cross-functional agile team, which means you'll get exposure to a wide range of technologies and challenges across the application support and integration landscape.
We're looking for someone with experience in the following areas:
- Good understanding of IT infrastructure
- Supporting enterprise applications in both on-premises and cloud environments, with a strong focus on operational support and platform stability
- Hands-on administration of Windows and Linux servers, including troubleshooting, vulnerability patching, performance monitoring, and system maintenance
- Working knowledge of system integrations (APIs, SFTP, SQL transformations, middleware platforms)
- Experience supporting business-critical applications, resolving incidents, and managing complex technical issues across multiple technology layers
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, Oracle Cloud or Google Cloud, with the understanding that this role is not purely cloud-focused
- Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills
- Experience working within Agile teams and collaborative delivery environments
- A minimum of 2-4 years' experience in application support, systems administration, integration support, or related disciplines
While this role does not focus on database administration, you'll be supported by a dedicated team that manages the Oracle database environment.
Ō Pūkenga | About you
You’re a pragmatic, hands-on Systems Specialist who enjoys solving technical problems, supporting business-critical applications, and improving the reliability of the platforms people depend on every day.
You’ll be comfortable working across on-premises and cloud-hosted environments, investigating issues, managing maintenance activities, and supporting integrations that keep key finance processes running smoothly.
You’ll bring a broad technical foundation across application support, platform administration, systems integration, and infrastructure troubleshooting, with the confidence to work across servers, middleware, applications, and interfaces to identify and resolve issues.
Strong communication skills will help you work effectively with technical and business stakeholders, while contributing to practical improvements in how the team supports and evolves these systems.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across:
- Application Support
- Systems Administration
- Integration Support
- Platform Maintenance
- Operational Problem Solving
Highly Valued Experience
- Middleware or systems integration experience (iPaaS, Oracle Integration Cloud, or similar technologies)
- Supporting financial, ERP, or accounting systems such as Infinite or similar enterprise applications
- Experience working in regulated environments where availability, accuracy, and compliance are important
- Familiarity with test automation and continuous improvement practices
- Experience supporting Planning Analytics (TM1)
- Experience administering or supporting Windows Server, Linux Server, IIS, scheduled jobs, file transfers, and application services
- Exposure to application patching, vulnerability remediation, and production support processes
This role is best suited to someone with a background in application support, systems administration, or enterprise hybrid platforms rather than a cloud engineering or cyber security specialist background.
