The Health Care Assistant works under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse or General Practitioner to provide primary care nursing support, patient interventions and treatment within the Medical Centre. Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or General Practitioner, this role is responsible for providing patient-centred, culturally appropriate, and individual holistic care to patients. This position reports directly to the Practice Manager.

- Caregiving or health‑related training and/or relevant work experience
- Compassionate, warm, and professional approach to patient care
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team
- Good time management and a strong sense of responsibility and accountability
- Willingness to learn new skills and follow clinical protocols
- Understanding of, or willingness to work within a Tūhoe Medical Centre
- Basic clinical skills (e.g. observations such as blood pressure, weight, temperature) are an advantage
- Fluency in the Tūhoe dialect is desirable but not essential
- Second to none work ethic to bring about wellness
