Pay Rate: $38.00 - $45.00 per hour (depending on skills, qualifications, and experience)

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Cable Jointer to join our team delivering electricity distribution network projects and maintenance works across the Canterbury region.

This is a hands-on field-based role involving the installation, jointing, termination, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault repair of underground electrical cables and associated network assets. You will work across a variety of sites throughout Canterbury and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out HV and LV cable jointing and terminations.
• Install, maintain, test, and commission underground distribution network assets.
• Locate and repair cable faults.
• Read and interpret network drawings and technical documentation.
• Complete work in accordance with industry standards, network owner requirements, and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate job records and reporting.
• Participate in emergency response and after-hours callout work when required.
• Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety requirements.

Minimum Requirements (Essential)

Applicants must have:

• New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointing High Voltage) (Level 4), the previous National Certificate in Cable Jointing, or an equivalent overseas qualification.
• Current EWRB Cable Jointer Registration and a current Practising Licence, or the ability to obtain registration through the recognised overseas pathway.
• At least 3 years' relevant cable jointing experience.
• Ability to work across multiple locations throughout Canterbury.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Experience working on electricity distribution networks.
• Competency in cable jointing, terminations, testing, and commissioning of underground distribution assets.
• First Aid certification.
• Traffic Management qualifications (TTM Worker, TMO, or STMS).
• Network access competencies and high-risk work authorisations.
• Class 2 Driver Licence.
