About The Role
The Mechatronics and Electrical Team lead is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team designing and delivering advanced mechatronic and electrical subsystems for next-gen autonomous vehicles. Working closely with Mechanical, Software, and leadership to turn bold concepts into field-tested, real-world systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a cross-functional team of electrical and mechatronics engineers; foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and excellence.
- System Design: Lead the architecture, design, and integration of electrical systems, power electronics, control systems, and embedded hardware for autonomous platforms.
- Project Execution: Plan and manage team deliverables across multiple projects, ensuring on-time and high-quality outcomes.
- Hands-on Prototyping: Guide rapid prototyping and testing of electromechanical subsystems and contribute to problem-solving on the bench.
- Collaboration: Work closely with software, mechanical, and flight teams to ensure seamless systems integration.
- Process Improvement: Implement best practices for design, documentation, testing, and validation.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure electrical systems comply with relevant safety standards, aerospace/military specs, and EMC guidelines.
Skills/Competencies
- Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering (or related)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechatronic/electrical systems design
- 2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead role
- Deep understanding of embedded systems, PCB design, control systems, and actuators/sensors
- Proficient in Altium, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent tools
- Experience with power management, motor control (brushed/brushless), and UAV or robotic systems
- Comfortable working in a startup-style environment — fast-paced, agile, and solutions-driven
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Not required, nice to have:
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, UAVs, or robotics would be highly beneficial
- Familiarity with DFMEA, HALT testing, or aerospace standards
- Exposure to FPGA design, high-voltage systems, or battery management systems
