Senior Customer Data Analyst

We’re looking for a Senior Customer Data Analyst to play a key role in shaping how we manage, protect, and leverage customer data to drive better decisions, stronger risk management, and exceptional customer outcomes.

Te tūranga | The role

This is a high-impact role where you’ll partner across the business to deliver meaningful data insights and solutions. You’ll sit at the intersection of data, analytics, risk, and —helping Personal Banking (PB) uplift its approach to Customer Data, Privacy, and Records Management within ASB’s Federated Data Ownership model.

You’ll lead analysis and scoping initiatives, influence decision-making, and ensure our data is fit-for-purpose both now and into the future.

Ngā mea ka mahia e koe | What you’ll do

• Lead analysis for data disposal and uplift initiatives, including cohort identification and validation
• Partner with Enterprise Technology to translate records disposal requirements into data logic, validate disposal cohorts, and support delivery of disposal capability
• Partner with Enterprise Data & Analytics and the Data Management Office to support management of critical data elements and improve their data quality
• Support activities to improve data quality of customer data by conducting root cause analysis and data profiling.
• Deliver actionable insights to support future-proofing of PB data usage as platforms and use cases evolve
• Support Privacy, Customer Data, and Records Management uplift programmes across PB
• Develop high-quality artefacts including business requirements, process maps and impact assessments, data definitions, metadata, and lineage, data quality rules and controls
• Proactively identify emerging risks and contribute to effective governance and controls

Ō pūkenga | What you’ll bring

• 7+ years’ experience in financial services or a related industry
• 5+ years’ experience in data analytics
• Advanced analytical capability (e.g. SQL, Excel, SAS, GDW)
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and control frameworks
• Proven experience delivering insights within complex change or transformation programmes
• Ability to translate between business needs and technical data requirements
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
• Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgement and a proactive mindset
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines
