We're looking for a Risk Governance Manager to join our Risk Governance & Reporting team. The role focuses on governance, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and providing meaningful insights that support better outcomes for our customers and business.
Te Tūranga | The role
As a Risk Governance Manager, you'll help strengthen Personal Banking's risk management capability through effective governance and reporting. You'll work across a wide range of stakeholders to coordinate governance forums, deliver meaningful risk insights, and support the ongoing development of a strong risk culture.
A Typical Day Could Involve
- Coordinating governance forums and committee processes, including preparing packs, meeting minutes, actions, and follow-ups.
- Developing clear and insightful reporting that helps leaders understand key themes, risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Working with Risk, Controls Assurance, Data & Analytics, and business teams to gather information and develop reporting and recommendations.
- Supporting divisional attestations, governance obligations, and risk commitments.
- Identifying and monitoring emerging risks and helping drive continuous improvement across governance and reporting practices.
- Building strong relationships across Personal Banking and Line 2 teams to support delivery of ASB's Risk Strategy.

We're looking for someone who brings strong governance, risk, or compliance experience and enjoys working across a variety of priorities.
To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Likely Have
- Previous experience in risk, compliance, governance, or a related discipline within financial services.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to turn complex information into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent written communication skills and confidence preparing reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and a relationship-focused approach.
- A continuous improvement mindset and the confidence to provide constructive challenge where required.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Experience within banking, financial services, regulatory organisations, consulting, or risk-related disciplines will be highly regarded.
