We’re looking for an energetic and people‑focused Trainer to join our Finegand Operations team. In this role, you’ll provide effective, efficient departmental training that supports our people to perform safely, confidently, and to the high standard required at Silver Fern Farms.

You’ll work closely with the training team, supervisors, recruitment, support teams, and new employees to ensure training meets operational needs, aligns with industry requirements, and contributes to both individual and team success.

Shift Pattern: hours are normally day shift between or 7.30am to 6pm and can change seasonally (Nov-July) to a night shift requirement 9pm-5.30am.

Te Mahi / Key Responsibilities

In This Role, You Will

Leadership

  • Provide clear leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a positive training culture
  • Coach and mentor employees to support skill development and performance
  • Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to ensure consistent support across the business
  • Manage training workflows to ensure all required tasks are completed to the required standard

Training of Staff

  • Champion the health, safety and wellbeing of all trainees
  • Coordinate and deliver training aligned with business needs and industry unit standards
  • Train and assess employee’s competencies including Induction, Meat Processing and site‑specific procedures
  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure refresher training is completed on time
  • Support new employees, monitor progress, identify training gaps and provide follow‑up support
  • Partner and mentor buddy trainers to ensure quality, consistent learner development
  • Identify poor technique and coach improvements, supporting both employees and supervisors

Recruitment Support

  • Work with the recruitment team and Supervisors to plan new starter intake and departmental placement
  • Arrange PPE, locker allocation and complete all Our Technique inductions
  • Lead site and departmental walk‑throughs and introduce new starters to key personnel

You’ll Bring

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • A positive, energetic approach with keen attention to detail
  • Experience or strong interest in training within a production environment
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and digital training systems
  • Commercial awareness and an organised, proactive working style
  • The ability (or desire) to achieve Adult Education & Training Level 4
