About the role

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional to join our Finance team as an Assistant Accountant (Accounts Receivable). In this role, you'll be responsible for managing customer accounts, monitoring credit risk, supporting timely cash collection, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of receivables reporting.

This is a varied position that offers exposure to month-end reporting, compliance activities, and continuous process improvement. You'll work closely with both finance and operational teams, giving you the opportunity to build strong relationships across the business, develop your technical skills, and take ownership of key Accounts Receivable processes.

This role is well suited to someone who is studying towards a CA/CPA qualification and looking to build a long-term career in accounting and finance.

Key responsibilities of this role include.

  • Timely and accurate processing of customer invoices, credit notes, and Accounts Receivable transactions.
  • Monitor customer accounts, follow up on outstanding receivables, and support effective cash collection activities.
  • Conduct credit reviews, maintain customer master data, and assist with managing customer credit risk.
  • Prepare Accounts Receivable reporting, including ageing analysis, bad debt, and impairment reporting.
  • Support month-end activities, including reconciliations, journals, and balance sheet reviews.
  • Work closely with Sales, Commercial, and Finance teams to resolve account queries and improve collection outcomes.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and the ongoing development of AR controls.
  • Provide audit support and ensure compliance with company policies, financial controls, and governance requirements.

Skills And Experience

Essential

  • A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years' experience in an accounting or finance support role.
  • Solid understanding of financial accounting principles and IFRS.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across the business.

Desirable

  • Exposure to Accounts Receivable and credit management processes.
  • Experience within the dairy, manufacturing, or FMCG sector.
  • Experience using ERP systems.
  • Working towards or holding a CA, CPA, or similar professional qualification.
  • Strong understanding of customer account management and credit risk assessment.
