We are looking for a New Zealand based Technician with strong customer management skills to join the team and help Powerplants establish local support for growers.
About The Role
The ideal candidate will be committed to providing exceptional customer service and growing a career in the horticultural industry. As a customer-facing technical role, it is important to find someone with an established knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, as well as strong interpersonal and IT skills.
This role will have a strong focus on career growth, with opportunities for developing the New Zealand market working alongside the Commercial Director of Powerplants. There are opportunities for developing your commercial skills, as well as travel prospects covering significant horticultural hubs within New Zealand.
As a Technician, You Will
- Develop knowledge of Powerplants products & sectors (incl. hydroponic vegetables, leafy greens, hydroponic berries, plant nurseries, potted plants, cut flowers, indoor vertical farms & medical cannabis)
- Receive training in Australia & work alongside our technical team to gain necessary technical installation skills that you will apply to NZ projects/commissions
- Establish & maintain customer relationships through regular, in-person contact
- Install & maintain Powerplants products & systems (incl. Greenhouse Control & Electrical systems, Automated Irrigation & Fertilizer Dosing systems, Mechanisation & Robotics)
- Provide technical assistance & support to customers with the support of others
- Work within a network of world leading companies represented by Powerplants in AUS/NZ
- Attend major industry events & activities (conferences, trade shows, grower days etc.) with support from the commercial team
- Work with NZ Account Manager to identify strategies & opportunities for new business
- Maintain regular contact with Powerplants' Technical Team & Commercial Director

Qualifications/requirements
- Formal Qualification in technical field (Electrical, Engineering, Electronics, Horticulture etc.)
- Practical knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical systems
- Practical knowledge of programming & instrumentation logic
- Strong Excel, CRM, Email, & general IT skills
- Valid driving license
- Willingness to travel monthly (or as needed)
- Industry experience or long-term passion for the industry (highly regarded)
- Commercial sales experience (highly regarded)
