InterGroup is looking for a motivated Waste Operator to join our Christchurch team.

This is a hands-on role working across a range of waste processing and industrial activities. You'll operate specialist equipment including excavators, sludge pumps, and vacuum units, helping keep our waste operations running safely and efficiently.

About The Role

As a Waste Operator, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our waste facility. You'll be responsible for moving, processing, and managing waste using a variety of specialist equipment while ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard.

This is a varied role that combines plant operation with general operational duties. You'll work closely with the wider team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, sludge pumps, vacuum units, and other specialist equipment
• Receive, process, and manage waste materials
• Load, move, and stockpile materials around the site
• Carry out routine plant and equipment inspections
• Assist with general site maintenance and housekeeping
• Complete job documentation and operational records
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures
• Support the wider operational team as required

About You

You'll have:

• Experience operating excavators or heavy plant
• Mechanical aptitude and confidence operating machinery
• Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake hands-on work
• A strong commitment to health and safety
• A reliable attitude and strong work ethic
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team

The Following Would Be Advantageous, But Not Essential

• Wheels, Tracks & Rollers (WTR) endorsement
• Experience operating vacuum units or sludge pumps
• Experience in waste, industrial, quarry, civil, or plant operations
