What you'll be doing
The highly engaged and passionate team at Auckland Airport is looking for a Safety, Risk and Compliance Coordinator to join us on a 7-month maternity cover until the end of April 2027. This is a great opportunity for a generalist to gain exposure across diverse safety initiatives in a complex, highly regulated environment.
The role will expose you to a wide range of safety and risk management activities, including fire safety, security, biosecurity, emergency planning, and regulatory compliance.
You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation, communicate effectively at all levels, and support a broad range of safety, risk, and compliance activities. The role includes reporting, data entry and analytics, participation in crisis management activities, and involvement in ad hoc projects as required.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting the recording, investigation, correction, and close-out of incidents and near misses.
- Assisting with trial fire evacuation programmes, fire egress checks, and managing corrective actions.
- Coordinating and supporting regulatory audits, checks, and education/awareness activities related to safety, risk, and compliance.
- Contributing to the review and audit of key manuals.
- Supporting wider business risk, knowledge management, and assurance projects as required.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in a safety, compliance, or regulatory role within a highly regulated environment (desirable)
- Experience working with Safety Management Systems, including accurate data entry and reporting
- Generalist-level experience supporting multiple workstreams
- A strong willingness and aptitude to learn
- Clear, concise communication skills and the ability to adapt your style to a range of stakeholders
- Strong relationship-building skills with people from all walks of life
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation capability, with a bias for transparency and collaboration
- Confidence using software suites and systems
- Some analytical skills to assess compliance issues and identify practical solutions
