Fitter Welder

Hynds Pipe Systems Limited

Remote

At Hynds, our moulds and equipment are what make world-class concrete products possible. We're on the hunt for a skilled

Workshop Fitter & Welder to join our manufacturing team in Pokeno — someone who loves pulling things apart, working out how they tick, and putting them back together better than they found them.

If you take pride in a clean weld, a well-run workshop, and solving problems with your hands, this one's for you.

The role

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you'll design and fabricate the moulds, accessories and engineering solutions that keep our manufacturing sites running. No two days look the same — one day you're fabricating a new mould, the next you're solving a breakdown or improving how a piece of plant performs.

Day To Day, You'll

  • Weld and fabricate using Arc, MIG and TIG
  • Operate the lathe, mill, press and other workshop equipment
  • Build and repair moulds and accessories for production projects
  • Take a strategic approach to maintenance and keep breakdowns to a minimum
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Look for smarter, better ways to design and run our plant
  • Keep the workshop safe, clean and well organised using 5S methodology
  • Work across both the workshop and our manufacturing sites as needed

About You

You're a hands-on problem solver who backs your own judgement and cares about doing the job right. You'll bring:

  • Minimum 2 years' relevant welding and fabrication experience (essential)
  • Certified Welder qualification
  • Proficiency across Arc, MIG, TIG and stainless — ideally 3+ years
  • Confidence on a lathe, mill and press, and around a fitter's workshop generally
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • A current forklift experience in a workshop environment
  • Bonus points for knowledge of industrial machinery, CAD, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems

Just as important, you're a genuine team player — reliable, safety-focused, and happy to share what you know and pitch in where it counts.
