Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor

About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Wellness Advisor to provide advice, guidance, and support to leaders across Wellington Free Ambulance, enabling the effective management of health, safety, and wellbeing risks and promoting positive workplace outcomes.

Working collaboratively with leaders, employees, volunteers, and key stakeholders, the role supports the implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, and wellness frameworks, systems, and initiatives. The Advisor provides guidance on risk management, incident management, health and wellbeing, legislative compliance, and industry best practice, helping leaders fulfil their responsibilities and build capability within their teams.

Through coaching, influencing, and the provision of practical, evidence-based advice, the Advisor contributes to a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture and supports the achievement of Wellington Free Ambulance's strategic and operational objectives.

We’re the only emergency ambulance service for Greater Wellington and Wairarapa and proud of the place we hold in our communities, and the high-quality care that our people deliver every day. As well as providing emergency ambulance services, Wellington Free Ambulance also provides a Patient Transfer Service that transports patients to and from scheduled healthcare appointments, a Clinical Communications Centre answering 111 calls, and Event Medical support to a huge number of community, sporting and festival events. We also teach our communities lifesaving CPR skills through The Lloyd Morrison Foundation Heartbeat Programme.

What we’re looking for

• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an equivalent Health and Safety Advisor or similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and other relevant legislation.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety management systems (HSMS) and their application
• Experience in contributing to the planning, design and implementation of HSW strategies and initiatives.
• An understanding of how health and safety analysis and insights help improve an organisation’s HSMS.
• Experience with ACC Accredited Employer programme or injury/illness rehabilitation programmes will be advantageous.
• A full clean New Zealand drivers’ licence is essential
