Product Development Technologist

About the role

As a Product Development Technologist, you'll play a key role in developing and improving Tegel's product range, working with teams across the business to bring new concepts to life from idea through to production. This is a varied role where your flexibility, problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities will be key to your success. Occasional travel to our Head Office in Newmarket and our Christchurch and New Plymouth sites may be required.

What you'll be doing

• Lead product development projects from concept through to successful commercial launch.
• Translate product briefs into practical, commercially viable solutions that meet customer, operational and quality requirements.
• Inspire and support Sales & Marketing and Operations Teams with market research, knowledge of food trends, innovations and new technologies
• Provide comprehensive briefs to ingredient suppliers in line with Tegel and market requirements
• Identify opportunities to improve products, processes and reduce costs while maintaining product quality, bringing solutions to life
• Develop and maintain product specifications, packaging information and supporting documentation.

About you

You're already working in product development within the food manufacturing industry and are looking for your next challenge. You enjoy managing multiple projects, building strong relationships across the business and seeing your ideas become products on supermarket shelves.

You'll bring

• A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Food Science or a related discipline.
• At least two years' experience within the food manufacturing industry, with experience in NPD
• Proven experience managing products from concept through to commercial production alongside experience coordinating factory trials and working with cross-functional teams.
• A sound understanding of the FSANZ Food Standards Code and good manufacturing process
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships and influence without authority
