Outreach Keyworker – Ingoa Tūranga Mahi Transitional Housing
About The Role
The Transitional Housing Immediate Access Outreach Keyworker works alongside Auckland City Mission services to provide rapid support for people experiencing homelessness. This role focuses on whaiora intake, safety assessments, and responding to immediate needs in a fast-paced environment. It provides intensive short-term support for up to four weeks, helping prepare whaiora for a smooth transition into mainstream transitional housing through coordinated, whānau-centred practice.

What You Will Be Doing
- Engage with whaiora experiencing rough sleeping through assertive outreach.
- Apply Auckland City Mission’s assessment framework to identify whaiora needs.
- Provide case-management support to whaiora experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
- Develop collaborative, goal-focused, time-bound action plans that build confidence, accountability, and independence.
- Work with the Intake Coordinator to review and process key documentation for Rapid Intake procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- A relevant tertiary qualification, ideally with a focus on social work, mental health, and/or addictions.
- Capacity to demonstrate through actions commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū and Mana Tika, Mana Ōrite.
- Previous experience working with clients who have complex needs including trauma, mental health, addiction, poverty, and homelessness, and experience managing a complex caseload.
- Aptitude for getting things done through formal and informal channels.
- A full New Zealand Drivers Licence.
