Our Pool Crew play a vital role in providing a safe, enjoyable and welcoming experience for everyone who visits our aquatic facilities. Working across our Central Otago pools, you'll help ensure the highest standards of safety, cleanliness and customer service while supporting community health and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities

Pool Crew Job Description

  • Providing active lifeguard supervision to ensure the safety of all pool users.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Carrying out routine water quality testing and basic plant room checks (training provided).
  • Setting up and packing down equipment for programmes and events.
  • Assisting with swim school, aquatic programmes and community events as required.
  • Responding to emergencies and administering first aid when required.
  • Working collaboratively with supervisors and the wider aquatics team to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Reporting to the Pool Supervisor and working closely with fellow Pool Crew and other Council staff.

Desired Skills And Experience

About you

  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Enjoy working in a team and have a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Are reliable, responsible and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Can work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Have good attention to detail and take pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Hold a current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) or are willing to obtain one (full training provided).
  • Current First Aid Certificate is an advantage or willingness to obtain one.
  • Previous experience in aquatics, recreation, hospitality or customer service is desirable but not essential
  • Can swim 200m in under 6 min
