We are looking for an energetic, organised and reliable School Holiday Programme Leader to coordinate and lead our Lower Hutt School Holiday Programme during the Term 3 school holidays.

  • Fixed-term school holiday role, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
  • Work roughly 40 hours per week across the school holiday programme.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will support children to enjoy meaningful holiday experiences while guiding and coaching a team of programme staff. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the programme, ensuring activities run smoothly and that children, whānau and staff have a positive experience.

You will bring strong leadership, a calm approach and excellent organisational skills to each day, helping create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel encouraged, supported and able to participate fully. Reporting to the Service Coordinator, you will oversee programme delivery, support staff development and ensure all programme requirements are met.

The school holiday programme runs for 2 weeks over the Term 3 school holiday period (28th September - 9th October).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a team of School Holiday Programme Workers.
  • Coordinate daily programme activities, outings and transitions.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for all children.
  • Facilitate and oversee games, arts and crafts, sports, themed activities and group challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, caregivers, whānau and team members.
  • Ensure health and safety, safeguarding and programme procedures are followed at all times.
  • Monitor attendance records, bookings and programme resources.
  • Be willing to support people with their personal cares, which can include bathing, dressing and toileting.

What We Are Looking For

You will be someone who enjoys working with children and leading others, bringing a positive, organised and practical approach to a busy programme environment. You will be confident coordinating activities, supporting staff and ensuring children have a safe and enjoyable experience.

  • Experience leading teams in children's programmes, disability support, recreation, education, youth work or community services would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience working with children is essential.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities and an understanding of positive behaviour support strategies would be an advantage.
  • First Aid certification would be an advantage.
  • A full New Zealand Driver Licence is required.
  • You must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
  • The successful applicant may be required to complete safety checks, including Police vetting and Oranga Tamariki checks, in line with child safety requirements.
