About Rātā Educare Newtown

Formerly known as The Salvation Army Early Childhood Centre, Rātā Educare Newtown is a welcoming, community-focused centre where tamariki aged 2–6 years are encouraged to explore, discover, and thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Qualified and Registered Early Childhood Teacher to join our team in a permanent part-time role, working three days per week (Monday–Wednesday) with our 2–6-year-old tamariki.

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your passion for teaching into a supportive, values-led organisation that prioritises high-quality early learning, strong whānau partnerships, and ongoing professional growth.

Additional casual hours may also be available for those seeking extra work on an as-needed basis.

We Would Love To Hear From You If You

  • Hold a recognised Level 7 (or higher) ECE qualification
  • Hold a current Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand Practising Certificate
  • Have a strong understanding of Te Whāriki and intentional teaching practices
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues
  • Embrace bicultural practice and uphold the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Bring a positive, adaptable, and team-focused approach to your work
  • Are committed to providing high-quality education and care in a nurturing environment

Hours & Remuneration

  • Permanent Part-Time
  • Location: Newtown, Wellington
  • Hours: Monday–Wednesday, 8 hours per day (rostered between 7:30am–5:30pm)
  • Hourly rate: $28.95–$46.56, depending on qualifications and experience
