Job Description & Summary
Kia ora,
Be a catalyst for transformation. Shape the future at PwC New Zealand.
At PwC, our purpose is clear: to build trust in society and solve important problems.
This is a place to keep growing. You’ll learn from the best, take on meaningful challenges, and make a lasting impact for our clients, our communities, and Aotearoa.
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our Advisory team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Ngā kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role
The Finance Manager plays a key role in supporting the financial performance, commercial discipline and strategic decision-making of PwC New Zealand’s Advisory business.
The role is responsible for ensuring Advisory has accurate, timely and insightful financial information, supported by clear analysis, forward-looking commentary and practical recommendations. It requires a qualified finance professional who is highly comfortable in the detail, but able to step back and connect financial results to business drivers, commercial risks, market context and strategic priorities.
The Finance Manager will also play an important role in lifting the quality, consistency and commercial value of the team’s outputs. This includes managing workflow, reviewing deliverables, improving reporting discipline and ensuring the team moves beyond transactional support toward value-adding insight.
The role is expected to adopt an AI-first mindset in how Planning & Performance work is delivered. This means actively looking for opportunities to use approved AI, automation and analytics tools to improve the speed, quality and consistency of reporting, reduce manual effort, strengthen insight generation and free capacity for higher-value commercial business partnering. Prior experience with AI or automation is preferred but not required; however, curiosity, adaptability and a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies are essential.
Your day-to-day could include:
- Lead month-end reporting for Advisory, including analysis of revenue, margin, costs, utilisation, WIP, debtors and key performance indicators.
- Partner with Advisory leaders and senior stakeholders to provide clear financial insight, challenge assumptions constructively and support commercial decision-making.
- Coordinate budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes, including scenario modelling and analysis of risks, assumptions and opportunities.
- Identify performance trends and improvement opportunities across profitability, working capital, revenue pipeline and operational activity.
- Use approved AI, automation and analytics tools to improve reporting quality, reduce manual effort and support more insightful planning and performance conversations.
Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe, ka whakawhanakehia rānei i tēnei tūranga / Skills you will bring or develop in this role
- CA ANZ, CPA or equivalent qualified accountant status, with a strong grounding in management accounting, financial analysis, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Around 5–8+ years’ relevant finance experience, ideally across FP&A, management accounting, commercial finance or business partnering.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to connect financial results to business drivers and explain insights clearly to non-finance audiences.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, with curiosity and willingness to adopt AI-first ways of working using approved tools responsibly.
If you don’t meet every requirement, we still want to hear from you - your skills and potential may be a great fit.
