Te tūranga - The role

As the Senior Advisor, you will play a key role in providing technical leadership and expert analysis, delivering high-quality research that informs monetary policy and supports the Bank's strategic objectives.

In this role you will manage a core part of the research programme, ensuring it is impactful, well-integrated with policy work, collaborative, and visible across the Bank and to external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include leading research projects, mentoring staff,strengthening academic and central bank partnerships, and providing thought leadership by identifying fruitful topics for policy-relevant research..

Ō pūkenga - About you

To succeed in this role, you'll be an experienced Advisor or Senior Advisor with:

  • A postgraduate degree in economics, finance, or a related analytical field.
  • At least seven years of experience, ideally within a central bank or similar institution.
  • A thorough understanding of macroeconomic theory and monetary economics.
  • Familiarity with global and domestic economic issues.
  • A command of advanced quantitative skills in one or more of the following: DSGE modelling, time-series econometrics, causal inference methods, large administrative datasets, or machine learning.
  • The capacity to lead and manage research projects effectively. The ability and willingness to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members.
