As the Contractor Liaison and Permit Issuer you are part of the Engineering CoE (Center of Excellence) group. You will primarily support contractors and colleagues in getting on the job in a compliant and efficient manner to meet KPIs by reviewing, guiding and approving permits and identifying and implementing process improvements to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing facility.

You play a critical role in supporting our Animal Health site through enabling unconstrained, compliant product supply at a cost point that meets our customers’ needs.

You perform routine permitting as needed by the site and follow up on incidents and changes (AHQM, capital projects, etc.) using your technical writing and execution skills and MPS (problem solving) skills to work with different stakeholders to resolve items as efficiently and effectively as possible.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, however not limited to

Leadership and Collaboration

You are considered an individual leader in your technical area and collaborate with different stakeholders to deliver on the targets of your technical area for which you

  • Anticipate and solve complex work requests that require safe implementation.
  • Challenge Processes and Procedures in your assigned area to identify process / quality / safety / cost improvements and take leading role in remediation (e.g. SOP update / and safety standard processes that can be streamlines, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively to ensure alignment and collaboration within the team and with other stakeholders.

Perform routine frontline-technical activities including but not limited to

  • Contractor inductions to site.
  • Supporting the maintenance, projects and production teams in planning and performing tasks, for example confined space entry.
  • Providing input and assistance with executing capital projects safely.
  • Ensuring all GMP, corporate and legislative compliance requirements are met.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to organise own daily tasks and support site schedules.
  • Ensure permits are approved conducted in accordance with our company and Worksafe NZ’s policies.

Specifically, within this role you will

  • Carry out Monthly Audits and KPI reporting of permits and records.
  • Maintain engineering staff and Contractor’s training and records.
  • Administer and operate our company’s staff and contractor management systems including but not limited to Totara (or equivalent) and ePass or other management systems.
  • Update site procedures related to contractors and permitting as required Communicate clearly and in a timely way with other members of your CoE and other IPT/COE to ensure the smooth execution of work and flow of product and documentation.
  • Have a good understanding of multiple areas of a manufacturing area to be able to provide on-the-job training /coaching to other staff/ contractors on how to do work safely.

What You Must Have

  • National Certificate, Trade Qualification, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Maintenance, Health & Safety, or Industrial Operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation, contractor management, and permit-to-work systems. Proven ability to manage high-risk work permits, conduct contractor inductions, identify and control risks, perform audits and inspections, and maintain compliance within a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and administrative skills
  • Extensive prior experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, animal health, food, chemical, or similar)
  • Report and investigation writing skills.
  • Computer Skills Microsoft products (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with GMP/GLP or ISO 9000 in a manufacturing or industrial environment is advantageous
