RealNZ is looking for an exceptional GM Sales & Market Development to lead our sales strategy, grow our market presence, and drive profitable revenue across New Zealand and international markets. Reporting to the Chief Customer & Sales Officer, this is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for maximising revenue opportunities, expanding trade distribution channels, and delivering sustainable business growth.

About The Role

As GM Sales & Market Development, you will lead RealNZ's sales and international growth agenda, identifying and converting opportunities across trade partnerships, MICE and Events, local agent sales, and ski distribution channels. You'll be responsible for developing and executing strategies that increase revenue, yield, market share, and brand awareness across our core and growth markets.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine strategic thinking with commercial execution. You'll build high-performing sales teams, strengthen industry partnerships, negotiate key commercial agreements, and ensure sales and marketing efforts are aligned to deliver outstanding business outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and executing RealNZ's sales and market development strategy.
  • Driving profitable revenue growth across domestic and international markets.
  • Expanding trade and travel distribution networks and strategic partnerships.
  • Leading market development initiatives to increase visitor volumes, market share, and brand awareness.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners, airlines, tourism operators, and other key stakeholders.
  • Delivering annual revenue, yield, and budget targets.
  • Leading, coaching, and inspiring a high-performing sales leadership team.
  • Representing RealNZ at major industry events, trade shows, and market engagements.

About You

You'll be a commercially astute sales leader with deep experience in tourism, leisure, hospitality, or a related industry.

You'll Bring

  • 10+ years' experience leading sales and business development functions at a senior level.
  • Significant experience managing international sales teams and operating across global markets.
  • Strong industry networks within tourism, leisure, travel, or destination marketing sectors.
  • Proven success delivering revenue growth and commercial performance.
  • Strategic thinking combined with the ability to execute and deliver results.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including experience presenting to executive leaders.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with the ability to turn data into actionable opportunities.
  • An energetic, resilient, and collaborative leadership style that inspires high performance
