*THE ROLE*

We need a Content Marketing Specialist who can make accounting interesting.

Small business owners avoid their numbers because reports feel confusing and overwhelming. Hello Cashflow exists to make understanding cashflow feel simple, and this role is how that message reaches the world. You'll turn founder knowledge, customer stories, and financial concepts, into content people actually want to watch, read, and share.

You’ll be reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, and own content and community end-to-end, working closely with our founders and team, with real room to shape the function as we rapidly grow our customers.

What you will do

Content creation

• Create short-form videos, blog articles, newsletters, and LinkedIn posts, or whatever format reaches and speaks to our customers.
• Build and manage monthly content calendars and social scheduling.
• Review content analytics and recommend what to make more of.

Community building

• Manage and grow our customer and partners community through event-based marketing and educational resources.
• Share customer wins and gather feature feedback.
• Turn community insight into content the wider audience needs.

Share customers, founders and team stories

• Create customer stories to show business growth and the humans behind businesses.
• Interview customers to create case studies, social content, and testimonials.
• Capture behind-the-scenes founders and team stories, support product launches.

Required skills

• 2+ years in content marketing, with hands-on skills in filming and editing short-form video, copywriting and editing, and design.
• A portfolio showing easy to understand, creative, and compelling content e.g. video, writing, community project.
• Small business literacy: you can explain the importance of understanding financials to business success in plain English, not textbook definitions.
• Empathy for small business owners, understanding why they avoid their numbers and what actually helps.
• Confidence using AI tools daily to automate workflows, not just knowing they exist.
• Comfortable leading projects, having fun with others to create content end-to-end.
• Naturally curious, loves learning, runs evidence-based experiments, happy wearing multiple hats, drawn to growing small businesses.

Advantageous experience

• Worked in or run a small business, including your own side hustle.
• Basic accounting or bookkeeping exposure.
• Agency or in-house content and community experience.
• Hands-on experience with: paid search and social, email marketing, building funnels, SEO, marketing automation, analytics, website publishing.

What good looks like after 90 days

• A content calendar and workflow running weekly.
• A live community with real engagement and a clear rhythm of discussion and customer wins.
• Regular customer and team stories turned into content across multiple formats.
• You can attribute your content to achieving business goals and metrics.

We prefer Wellington region-based applicants to create content with our marketing team, but open to remote team members across New Zealand for the right applicant. We welcome applicants from every background.
