Position Details
Job Location: Otago, Queenstown
Type: Permanent, Full time
Days required: Rotating roster, including weekends & public holidays
Hours per week: 30 to 35 hours per week
Hourly Pay: $30-$35per hour
We are a busy hospitality business in Otago committed to delivering high-quality food and excellent customer service. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and prepare high-quality meals in accordance with menu specifications.
Prepare, season and cook food to consistently high standards.
Develop and assist with menu planning and new dishes.
Monitor food quality, presentation and portion control.
Estimate food requirements and minimise wastage.
Supervise kitchen operations during service.
Maintain food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards.
Inspect food supplies and ensure quality and freshness.
Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control.
Train and supervise kitchen staff where required.
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety and Food Control Plan requirements.
Work collaboratively with the management team to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Skills Required
At least 3 years of experience in the industry OR NZQA Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) in cookery/culinary arts
Demonstrate strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
Be reliable, organised and able to work flexible rostered hours.
Have excellent teamwork and communication skills.
