Crew Leader – Class 4 Operator Labourer (Selwyn)

HEB Construction is seeking an experienced and motivated

Crew Leader – Class 4 Operator Labourer to lead our Selwyn Digout/Stabilisation Crew.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for guiding a small crew while actively contributing on the tools and operating Class 4 vehicles. We’re looking for someone who leads from the front, values safety, and delivers quality outcomes in a fast-paced civil environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading day-to-day activities of the digout and stabilisation crew
• Operating Class 4 trucks to support site operations
• Coordinating and participating in digout, subgrade prep, and stabilisation works
• Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification
• Providing clear direction, support, and on-the-job guidance to crew members
• Liaising with Forepersons, Supervisors, and Project Managers
• Conducting site safety briefings and maintaining high H&S standards
• Completing required documentation, including pre-starts and vehicle checks

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum Full NZ Class 4 licence (essential)
• Proven experience in civil construction, particularly digout/stabilisation or similar works
• Previous crew leading or supervisory experience highly desirable
• Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and guide a team
• Hands-on approach — willing to operate, labour, and lead by example
• Excellent health & safety mindset
• Reliable, organised, and strong communicator
