The Christchurch Doctors medical practice is a vibrant and well-established GP located in the heart of the city centre. Non-corporate, privately-owned and patient care focused. We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Practice Manager with fresh ideas to join our hardworking team, to lead and promote our business growth, including further expansion and sub-specialisation initiatives. The practice is going through a period of growth and expansion, therefore experience in business development will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the practice, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and service delivery.
  • Support our team of experienced healthcare professionals and administrators. Co-ordinate ongoing training and development.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Implement innovative practices and improvement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the clinic.
  • Manage staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluations, fostering a culture of teamwork and positivity. Currently there is a full complement of experienced and dedicated team members.
  • Collaborate with the directors and GPs to optimise scheduling, patient flow, and service delivery.
  • Monitor financial performance, assist with budget management, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Act as a point of contact for patients, whānau and agencies, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Position Overview

Part-time over four or five days - hours and salary flexible for the right candidate

The Business and Practice Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our city centre GP practice and expansion during our period of growth. The ideal candidate will embody a growth mindset, be passionate about healthcare management, and have experience in leading teams effectively and cohesively. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing a full complement of doctors, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement. You will be responsive to feedback from whānau and ensure our team members feel heard and appreciated.

Qualifications

  • A proactive, growth-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to challenges and drive improvements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to recognise talent within the team to ensure the effective utilisation of existing skills and ability.
  • Strong understanding of primary care operations, funding models, PHOs and advocacy. Proficient in current practice management systems used in Canterbury.
  • Experience in multicultural and Māori healthcare needs
  • Business qualifications, to a tertiary level would be advantageous to the applicant
  • Previous experience in healthcare management is essential.
  • Experience in business growth and private healthcare settings would be advantageous.
  • Recognising the need for and experience of implementing staff well-being initiatives.
  • Sound understanding of Foundation and Cornerstone Standards and the medical audit processes for Private Health Insurance standards
  • Proficiency in scheduling systems, patient management software, and general computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, and practice databases).
  • You must have a 'can-do' attitude
