Vani’s Kitchen, a premium fine dining restaurant specialising in authentic Hyderabadi cuisine, is seeking an experienced Bar Staff member to join our team. Applicants must have at least 1 year of hands-on bartending experience preparing cocktails, serving wines, beers, and spirits while delivering exceptional customer service. Applicants must hold valid New Zealand working rights and have reliable transport.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of cocktails, mocktails, wines, beers, spirits, and other beverages to a consistently high standard.
  • Recommend beverages to guests and provide knowledgeable food and drink pairing suggestions.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of the bar area throughout service.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving, and rotating bar inventory.
  • Ensure responsible service of alcohol in accordance with New Zealand liquor licensing laws.
  • Verify customer identification and refuse service where legally required.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately process customer orders and payments.
  • Prepare bar stations before service and complete end-of-shift cleaning and closing procedures.
  • Support front-of-house operations during busy service periods.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1+ year of hands-on bartending experience in a restaurant, bar, or hospitality venue.
  • Proven ability to prepare classic and contemporary cocktails, pour wines, serve beers, and mix spirits accurately.
  • Good knowledge of wines, beers, spirits, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Valid New Zealand working rights.
  • Own reliable transportation.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and flexible shifts.
