HR Generalist - HRIS Implementation Project
Transpower
- Contribute to Transpower’s Oracle Cloud HCM implementation
- Work across people, process, data, testing, change and adoption
- 12-month fixed term opportunity based in Wellingtons CBD
Transpower owns and operates New Zealand’s National Grid — the high voltage transmission network that connects areas of generation with towns, cities and businesses across Aotearoa.
Our work is critical to enabling a more electrified, decarbonised future. As demand for electricity grows, we’re investing in the people, processes, systems and tools needed to support our continued transformation and deliver for New Zealand.
About the team
Our Enterprise Business Capability (EBC) Programme is helping Transpower streamline business processes and information through implementation of an enterprise resource planning system (Oracle). This will improve how we work, reduce time spent navigating complex processes and multiple systems, and enabling more time to be spent generating value.
As part of this, we’re implementing Oracle Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) to strengthen our people systems and support the way we work across the employee lifecycle.
The opportunity – 12 months fixed term!
We’re looking for an experienced HR Generalist with HRIS implementation expertise as an HR subject matter expert, to provide additional dedicated capacity to support Transpower’s Oracle HCM implementation. You’ll help ensure the solution is configured, tested and implemented in line with business needs, policy, legislation and practical workforce requirements.
Working closely with the EBC programme team, HCM Capability Lead, other HCM subject matter experts, our People team, Payroll, Finance, and Data teams, you’ll provide input across Core HCM, Absence, Journeys, Recruitment, Compensation, Talent, Time and Labour, and Workforce Scheduling.
You’ll also work with our implementation partners, to confirm requirements, review design and build outputs, support user testing, identify risks and issues, and contribute to go-live readiness in July 2027 and early implementation.
What you’ll bring
You’ll be comfortable working in a complex implementation environment, translating HR policy, employment legislation, data, reporting and workforce requirements into practical system configuration and process decisions.
Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate
- HRIS implementation experience across configuration, build, testing, validation, acceptance and go-live readiness.
- Strong generalist HR knowledge across the employee lifecycle, including leave, recruitment, onboarding, talent and workforce processes.
- Understanding or experience reviewing any of the following: user stories, acceptance criteria, design workbooks, questionnaires and configuration inputs.
- Systems thinking across people, process, data, tools and technology.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the confidence to work across functional teams, leaders and implementation partners.
As a positive and proactive professional, naturally you will be adaptable, with the ability to work through ambiguity, changing requirements and competing priorities.
Not essential but advantageous: Oracle Cloud HCM implementation experience and experience supporting HR transformation/business process improvement.
Why work for Transpower?
It’s exciting! The scale, criticality and complexity of our work is intellectually stimulating. Every day, we’re working at the heart of the electricity sector to enable Aotearoa’s energy future.
We offer a collaborative and supportive environment where you’ll work alongside people who care deeply about the work we do and the impact it has for New Zealand.
Next steps
If you’re ready to bring your HRIS implementation expertise to a programme that will shape how Transpower works into the future, we’d love to hear from you.
Role closes 27 July, please apply now with your CV and cover letter. Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and we may close the advert earlier if we find a suitable candidate.
Existing eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
