Strategic Account Lead

Red Badge Group

Red Badge Group is looking for a highly connected, commercially sharp and strategically minded sales leader to help us grow our presence across the Wellington government sector.

This is not a standard sales role. It is a senior, strategic position with a clear mandate: open doors, build trust, challenge how customers think about security, and win significant government contracts across security guarding, mobile patrols and monitoring.

Behind the Badge

Red Badge Group is a proudly Kiwi-owned security company, providing guarding, mobile patrols, alarm monitoring and event security services across New Zealand. Our people make the difference, and our ambition is simple: to redefine what great security looks like for our customers.

We are people first, quality focused and commercially ambitious. We make decisions quickly, back good ideas, and build solutions around what customers actually need — not what the industry has always done.

The Elevator Pitch

We are investing in growth across Wellington, with a particular focus on central government. The Strategic Account Lead will play a critical role in shaping our future by establishing new customer relationships, winning sizeable government work, and helping Red Badge become the security partner of choice in new sectors.

The right person will already be well connected across Wellington. You will know how government organisations think, how decisions are influenced, how risk is assessed, and what it takes to give senior stakeholders the confidence to move significant contracts from one provider to another.

Your first priority will be growth. Over time, as new accounts are established, the role will also expand into strategic account retention, farming and service innovation — ensuring we keep delivering market-leading solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and convert a strategic pipeline of government opportunities across security guarding, patrols and monitoring.
  • Use your Wellington government relationships to create meaningful customer conversations and open new doors.
  • Identify customer problems, challenge assumptions about security, and design practical, credible solutions that create confidence.
  • Lead senior commercial conversations with decision makers, influencers, procurement stakeholders and operational leaders.
  • Position Red Badge as a quality-first, people-led, commercially responsive alternative in a market where customers often see change as a major risk.
  • Work closely with operations, marketing and senior leadership to shape solutions, proposals and customer engagement strategies.
  • Support tenders, presentations and strategic pursuits with customer insight, commercial judgement and relationship intelligence.
  • Once new accounts are won, help transition them into strong long-term partnerships with clear growth and retention plans.

About You

You are a senior strategic sales professional with deep Wellington relationships and a proven track record of winning sizeable government work. You are commercially astute, highly credible in front of senior stakeholders, and confident creating momentum in complex, risk-aware buying environments.

You know how to move beyond transactional selling. You can diagnose customer problems, shape a compelling solution, challenge preconceptions, and build the confidence required for customers to make a significant change.

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 10 years’ senior sales, strategic account or business development experience.
  • Demonstrable relationships across Wellington, particularly within central government.
  • A proven history of winning sizeable government contracts or complex B2B service agreements.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking and confidence working with senior decision makers.
  • The ability to build trust, create urgency and help customers navigate the perceived risk of changing providers.
  • Experience selling or influencing within service-led, labour-based, security, facilities, infrastructure or government supply environments.
  • Excellent communication, proposal, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong discipline around pipeline development, opportunity strategy, CRM usage and forecasting.
  • Wellington-based availability, with flexibility to attend occasional after-hours industry networking functions, including weekend corporate hosting at Sky Stadium for key sporting and music events.

Why join us?

  • A genuinely strategic role with visibility across the business.
  • The opportunity to shape Red Badge’s growth in Wellington’s government market.
  • A Kiwi-owned company with ambition and the ability to make fast decisions.
  • A people-first culture that backs quality, relationships and long-term customer outcomes.
  • A chance to influence how security services are designed, sold and delivered in critical sectors.
