About the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Pathology TDL Cleveland Clinic, working night shift. Experienced MLA staff only will be considered and this is for a 1 year fixed term position. This strategically located laboratory is located a few minutes’ walk from Victoria station and is surrounded by a host of London’s land marks and close to many exciting bars, restaurants and shopping areas. The laboratory provides a 24-hour service and has a multi-discipline repertoire, based within Cleveland Clinic, a prestigious American private hospital that is the first of its kind within the UK. The services offered are still expanding, having been open for just over three years now, and there are regular advancements of clinical procedures and equipment. The hospital has 29 ITU beds 8 Theatres plus Cath Labs/ Interventional Radiology and Endoscopy, serving both inpatients and outpatients. The successful candidate will be participating in the out of hours rota alongside a qualified BMS. This involves week day and weekend night shifts (2000-0900). Full training will be provided in-house and the candidate will join the out of hours rota on completion of training and all relevant competency assessments. The laboratory offers routine testing in haematology, biochemistry and blood transfusion and also carries out PCR testing for Covid-19 and MRSA. The role offers opportunity to develop additional skills within the laboratory but we are not able to support a training portfolio at this time. Being part of the TDL regional labs group, staff are supported by and contribute to the other TDL regional labs functions in sharing input into troubleshooting, training, peer auditing, presenting training sessions and supporting company projects.
