Ko tō tūranga – your role

As Senior Commercial Analyst, you’ll provide commercial finance support for One NZ’s technology platforms portfolio across AI, Cloud, SaaS, Data and critical IT infrastructure. Working closely with our Technology and AI & Business Services teams, you’ll support investment decisions, forecasting, governance and value realisation, ensuring platform spend is commercially robust, strategically aligned and optimised for long-term value.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of technology and commercial finance. You’ll help build greater cost transparency, accountability and FinOps discipline across the portfolio, including cloud consumption, SaaS, data environments and AI-related costs. You’ll also support value tracking of investment across our AI platforms, helping leaders understand benefits, performance outcomes and the commercial value being delivered.

Ko Tō Mahi – What You’ll Do

• Lead analysis to support platform investment decisions, including cost to deliver, cost to run, and long-term value
• Build and maintain forecasts across platform costs, consumption drivers, and re-platforming activity
• Assess ROI and cost-benefit outcomes to support business cases, prioritisation, and value realisation
• Strengthen FinOps practices by improving cost visibility, consumption insights, and accountability
• Analyse and forecast data-related cost drivers, including storage, processing, ingress, egress, and environment usage
• Track AI tool adoption and performance outcomes, linking usage to improved operational results
• Partner with AI, Technology, and Finance stakeholders to embed commercial discipline into planning, governance, and decision-making

Na Tōu Rourou - What You’ll Bring

• Curious, proactive, and commercially minded, with a strong interest in technology platforms and value creation
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear commercial insight
• Advanced commercial capability, including forecasting, cost modelling, business case development, variance analysis, ROI assessment, and value tracking
• Proven experience in commercial analysis, ideally in technology, platform, FinOps, or strategy-focused environments
• Practical understanding of technology cost drivers such as consumption-based services, licensing models, architecture trade-offs, and operational cost optimisation
• Strong problem-solving and judgement skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Relevant experience in a senior commercial, finance, FinOps, technology strategy, or platform management role, with a tertiary or professional qualification preferred
