About the Role

As a Condition Assessor, you'll carry out detailed inspections of transmission structures, conductors and access routes across the network. Your work will directly support asset management decisions by identifying, recording and prioritising defects while ensuring all inspections meet industry and client standards. You'll also work closely with internal teams, landowners and stakeholders to ensure accurate information is captured and reported, helping deliver safe and efficient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed condition assessments of transmission structures, conductors and access assets.
  • Identify, assess and record defects, ensuring they are accurately prioritised and raised for action.
  • Complete asset condition ratings in accordance with relevant transmission standards and specifications.
  • Capture and manage inspection data using Matai and other digital asset management systems.
  • Update landowner information and report any third-party activities that may impact network assets.
  • Complete all inspection records, hazard identification, incident reports and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, environmental compliance and quality across all work activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve processes, safety and efficiency.
  • Participate in internal audits and maintain high standards of compliance.
  • Ensure company equipment, vehicles and PPE are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition.

About You

You'll be practical, self-motivated and enjoy working in a dynamic field environment. You have a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills and understand the importance of maintaining accurate asset information.

Experience

  • Relevant Transmission qualifications and industry certifications.
  • Experience working within transmission environments (experience on Transpower assets is highly regarded).
  • Current Transpower competencies (desirable).
  • A full, clean New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a high-performing team.
  • Good computer skills and confidence using digital systems.
  • Drone inspection experience is advantageous, but training will be provided for the right person.
