Senior Manager – Risk Accountability

We're looking for an experienced Senior Manager Risk Accountability to join our Risk & Compliance team. Reporting to the Head of Privacy, this newly created role will play a critical part in shaping and strengthening ASB's approach to risk accountability, and positive risk recognition across the organisation.

Te Tūranga | The role

This is a strategic and highly influential role where you'll partner with senior leaders across ASB to embed strong accountability practices, improve risk culture outcomes, and drive consistent risk-based decision making.

You'll play a key role in supporting the effectiveness of ASB's Risk and Remuneration Review Committee (RRRC), while providing insights, challenge and governance expertise that help strengthen organisational accountability and performance outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Strengthen the identification, recognition and reinforcement of positive risk behaviours across ASB.
  • Build organisational capability and understanding of accountability, and positive risk recognition.
  • Provide analysis and constructive challenge to improve accountability assessments, consequence recommendations and remuneration outcomes.
  • Enhance RRRC processes, governance practices and guidance to improve consistency, transparency and effectiveness.
  • Develop data-driven insights to identify trends, themes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify and escalate emerging culture, conduct and accountability risks.
  • Prepare high-quality papers, reports and governance materials for executive and committee audiences.
  • Coordinate RRRC governance activities, meetings, agendas and actions to a high standard.

You'll bring a combination of risk expertise, commercial judgement and strong stakeholder influence skills, along with the ability to navigate complex organisational environments.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in risk, compliance, governance, conduct risk or a related discipline within a large and complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of accountability frameworks, consequence management, remuneration governance and risk culture.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence and challenge senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capability, with the ability to turn insights into practical actions.
  • Experience improving frameworks, processes, governance practices or operating models.
  • Proven ability to prepare clear, balanced and insightful reporting for executive and governance forums.
  • Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities.
