We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Hamilton-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated engineering professional who enjoys balancing technical expertise, contract management, stakeholder engagement, and operational leadership.
Reporting to the Asset Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in delivering maintenance programmes, supporting operational teams, optimising resources, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will provide technical and operational support across a range of maintenance contracts and projects. You will work closely with supervisors, clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of maintenance programmes while meeting quality, financial, safety, and performance objective
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the planning, budgeting, programming, and delivery of maintenance activities and contracts.
- Assisting with tender preparation, estimates, contract variations, and cost management.
- Monitoring contract performance to ensure delivery against quality, budget, and timeframe expectations.
- Managing programme documentation, claims, subcontractor agreements, and contractual obligations.
- Building strong relationships with clients and proactively resolving issues.
- Supporting and developing operational teams through coaching, mentoring, and training initiatives.
- Managing resources including personnel, plant, and equipment to maximise utilisation and performance.
- Contributing to monthly financial reporting, forecasting, and risk management activities.
- Championing a strong safety culture and driving Zero Harm outcomes across all operations
Important Skills | Nga pūkenga matua
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar role within the civil construction or infrastructure sector.
- Experience working within a contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of contract management and project delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to influence and empower teams.
- Experience in estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management.
- Excellent stakeholder and client relationship management skills.
- A commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality excellence.
- The flexibility to travel and work on projects outside of your home base when required.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience working with NEC3/NEC4 and/or NZS 3910/3916 contracts.
