Join Mercury's Architecture and Data Digital Team as we accelerate our journey to becoming a data-driven organisation. As Senior Data Engineer, you'll bring strong technical design and engineering expertise, working alongside Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Business Unit Stakeholders to deliver valuable data products across the business.

Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:

  • Perform a hands-on engineering role, building both the foundations of Mercury's Data Platform and the data initiatives delivered on it
  • Contribute across both Platform Engineering and Data Engineering outcomes
  • Design data solutions that deliver real value and are easy to understand and use
  • Build, test and deploy data pipelines and foundational platform services using Mercury's Data Platform technology and processes
  • Work with data source owners and SMEs to understand and leverage the organisation's data assets
  • Play an active role mentoring intermediate, associate and graduate Data & Analytics team members
  • Actively contribute to Mercury's Data Engineering chapter, driving continuous improvement in our technology and processes

Tāu ka kawe mai | What you'll bring:

  • 5-7+ years' experience in a commercial Technology environment, including at least 3 years in a Data Engineering role with senior/lead responsibilities
  • Strong data modelling background
  • Extensive SQL experience, with exposure to Python
  • Experience with Databricks (preferred) or other technologies like (dbt, Snowflake, SQL server, Oracle)
  • Recent experience delivering solutions handling large data volumes across varying velocities (batch, micro-batch, near real-time)
  • Solid foundation in CI/CD + source control
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure or GCP) — certifications highly desirable
