We're looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead Kordia's payroll function through an exciting period of transformation. As we bring payroll in-house, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing a modern, efficient and compliant payroll service that delivers an outstanding experience for our people.

Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller, you'll combine deep payroll expertise with a passion for continuous improvement. You'll work closely with Finance and People & Culture to strengthen payroll capability, enhance reporting, optimise systems and ensure every payroll is delivered accurately, on time and in line with legislative requirements. Ko tō mahi – What you will do

As Payroll Manager, you'll take ownership of Kordia's end to end payroll function, taking responsibility for:

  • Managing end to end payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Leading the transition from an outsourced payroll provider to an efficient in-house payroll function.
  • Establishing robust payroll processes, controls and documentation that support compliance and operational excellence.
  • Ensuring payroll practices comply with New Zealand employment legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Producing payroll, leave and workforce reporting that supports informed business decisions.
  • Analysing payroll and workforce data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintaining the integrity of payroll, time and attendance and HRIS data.
  • Support payroll system integration, testing and continuous improvement initiatives, including Hibob optimisation.
  • Providing trusted, responsive support and advice to employees and managers on payroll matters.

Nā tōu rourou – What you will bring

Our ideal candidate brings significant experience managing end to end payroll within New Zealand organisations, and will confidently demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act, Employment Relations Act, PAYE, KiwiSaver and ACC.
  • Experience establishing or improving payroll processes, controls and governance frameworks.
  • Experience leading payroll system implementations, transitions or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and implement practical solutions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across the business.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using payroll and HRIS platforms. Experience with HiBob is advantageous.
  • A relevant qualification in Payroll, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline. An NZ Certificate in Payroll Practice or NZPPA membership is desirable.
