About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Relationship Manager to join a leading private banking team based in Hamilton, covering the wider Waikato region.
This is a senior role within the business and a key position within the regional leadership team. Reporting to the Regional Manager based in Wellington, you will play a pivotal role in driving growth, deepening client relationships, and supporting the ongoing success of the private banking team.
You will manage a portfolio of high-net-worth (HNW) clients while also focusing on new business development and regional growth opportunities. The role requires a strong ability to build trusted internal and external relationships to generate referrals, strengthen networks, and grow funds under management.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of high-net-worth private banking clients
- Deliver tailored investment solutions to clients across the Waikato region
- Drive business development activity and identify new client opportunities
- Build strong internal stakeholder relationships to generate referral opportunities across the bank
- Work closely with Commercial Managers to identify and convert leads from commercial, business, and agri/rural clients
- Develop and maintain external referral networks including accountants, lawyers, and other professional partners
- Support regional growth initiatives and contribute to broader business strategy
- Act as a senior figure and role model within the Hamilton team, providing guidance and support to junior Private Bankers
- Foster collaboration and best practice across the wider private banking business
About you
You'll be an experienced wealth management or private banking professional who enjoys building lasting client relationships and is recognised for your credibility, commercial judgement and collaborative approach.
You’ll bring:
- Level 5 Financial Advice qualification (Investments) – essential
- Proven experience within private banking, wealth management, or relationship banking
- Strong understanding of financial markets and investment solutions
- Demonstrated success working with high-net-worth clients
- Strong business development and networking capability
- Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Leadership attributes with the ability to mentor and support junior team members
- Established networks within the Waikato business community would be highly advantageous
- Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across banking teams to drive growth outcomes
