Tā mātou arawātea | Our Opportunity
We're looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our Technology team, supporting Mercury staff and our generation sites across the region. You'll be the hands-on problem solver who keeps our people connected and our sites running — whether that's troubleshooting a laptop issue, supporting a site visit, or getting a generation site back online.
This role covers Rotorua and Hamilton and across our generation sites, so you'll need to be comfortable on the road, holding a full and clean driving licence — a Mercury vehicle is provided for work-related travel between sites.
Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:
- Providing hands-on technical support to Mercury's generation sites, resolving issues and service requests to keep downtime to a minimum
- Managing and prioritising incidents and service requests to meet SLAs
- Travelling to Mercury sites as scheduled or required — a full, clean driving licence is essential, and a vehicle is provided for this
- Taking part in onsite activities that need a physical presence, including escorting contractors and providing level 3 "arms and legs" support
- Troubleshooting hardware, software, networking and application issues across desktops, laptops and mobiles
- Carrying out routine site technology checks, including power, UPS, cooling, racks and environmental systems, and flagging improvements
- Taking part in Mercury's on-call roster, responding to after-hours alerts and escalations to keep our systems running around the clock
Tāu ka kawe mai | What you'll bring:
- 4+ years' experience in a customer-focused or IT role within a large-scale enterprise environment
- A tertiary qualification in technology, or equivalent experience
- Sound knowledge of technology service management and security principles and practices
- Good working knowledge of hardware (laptops, desktops, peripherals), Microsoft product suites, Active Directory, SCCM/SCOM/InTune, and Microsoft 365
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in plain language
- A full, clean driving licence, and willingness to travel to Mercury sites as part of the role
- Willingness to participate in an on-call roster, including responding to after-hours incidents
He aha te pai o te hono mai? | Why join us?
- Additional 5 days leave per annum (MyDays)
- $400 one off tax-free payment towards setting up your home office
- Offers on electricity and telco - if you're a Mercury customer, you can enjoy some great discounts on your electricity and telco bill
- A diverse workplace where your unique abilities and talents will be recognised and encouraged
- Annual salary reviews with excellent parental leave policy, with the option to purchase additional leave
- The opportunities, career paths and facilities associated with working for one of New Zealand's largest multi-utility providers
- Flexible working policy - The autonomy and trust to work flexibly from our purpose-built premises and from home, recognising the value of this flexibility in the modern world
- Discounted health insurance and free life and income insurance
- Excellent well-being programme including up to $100 annual check ups and confidential assistance programme
- Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave to be taken when you lose anyone close to you, including your pet
