The Role: Specialist sales – Safety solutions

Reporting to our National Sales Manager for Safety and Packaging based in Christchurch, in this role you will be tasked with identifying and growing opportunities within our safety solution ranges. Bring your expertise and industry knowledge to consult and provide advice to not only your customers but also your colleagues.

You will be a proactive advisor and sales hunter, influencing decisions and providing best practice advice to your internal and external customers.

Supporting our customers across Tāmaki Makaurau – there are LOADS of opportunities for our safety solutions. Whether its in logistics and Warehousing, civil construction projects, or in the trade and industrial sector – we have a strong range of products to support businesses safety needs.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

  • Ensure the delivery of the Safety category sales and margin growth, customer satisfaction and retention targets
  • Work collaboratively with the broader sales team to identify and convert sales and growth opportunities through joint sales strategies
  • Proactively build and maintain sales pipeline, qualify size of opportunities and convert
  • Represent OfficeMax in the field as specialist sales expert, providing Safety product knowledge and expertise, professional and compelling presentations, on-site workspace and equipment planning and communications
  • Manage and co-ordinate OfficeMax’s response to requests for Tenders and RFPs within the Safety area
  • Act as technical subject matter expert on all elements of Safety products, including sustainability expertise and accreditation requirements
  • Collaborate with OfficeMax buyers and suppliers to source specific Safety products for customer requirements/specifications
  • Ensure all pipeline and customer information and activity is up to date in Salesforce CRM

What You Will Bring

  • 3-5+ years business development management experience
  • Experience in the relevant sector or industry
  • Successful record of gaining new business and customers, and consistent achievement of sales targets
  • Demonstrated experience in customer negotiations
  • Previous experience using ERP systems, preferably Salesforce, Pronto and Seismic
  • Commercial, logistics and problem-solving skills
  • Empathetic and adaptable interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Sustainability and HS&W champion
