Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare, and cook a variety of authentic Chinese dishes to a consistently high standard.
  • Design and update menus, including seasonal and special menu items.
  • Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and presentation to ensure consistency.
  • Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
  • Train and support kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food preparation, and hygiene standards.
  • Plan food production and coordinate kitchen operations to ensure efficient service.
  • Monitor stock levels, order ingredients, and minimise food waste.
  • Inspect the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure proper food storage.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and food preparation areas.
  • Assist in developing new dishes and improving existing recipes.
  • Work closely with restaurant management to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

  • NZQF Diploma in relevant fields;OR
  • At least two years of working experience in relevant industry
  • Experience preparing authentic Chinese cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to supervise and train kitchen staff.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
