The Top Energy Group operates throughout the Far North delivering geothermal electricity generation and electricity network operations. We are enabling Northland to contribute to the decarbonisation challenge by transforming the Top Energy Group into a technology-enabled energy company that generates and facilitates two-way energy flow between renewable energy generators and consumers.
About the role
This role provides asset engineering expertise across Top Energy's electricity network, supporting the development and ongoing management of asset lifecycle strategies, risk-based investment plans, and asset information and technical governance. It ensures network assets remain safe, reliable, resilient, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle. The role is also responsible for translating asset needs into robust programmes, standards, and decision-making support for the 10-year Asset Management Plan (AMP).
The role is based in Kerikeri and will report to the Planning Manager.
About you
It is essential that you have a bachelor's degree in engineering, a high level of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. You will also hold a full clean NZ drivers' licence. Experience in network engineering planning and design with 5-7 years' experience in the electricity supply industry is preferred ( however we would welcome applicants with less experience to apply). An added advantage would be having experience with SAP or another enterprise resource planning system.
Key areas of focus
- Develop asset lifecycle, replacement, and refurbishment strategies.
- Analyse asset condition data to support risk-based decisions.
- Investigate significant asset failures and apply learnings to standards and programmes.
- Improve asset decision support, datasets, risk rankings, and performance insights.
- Provide technical guidance on asset standards, safety, maintainability, and sustainability.
- Develop business cases and option assessments using whole-of-life cost and risk analysis.
- Review designs and work packs for alignment with asset strategy and standards.
- Support supplier engagement on performance, warranty, obsolescence, and spares planning.
- Share technical knowledge and mentor developing engineers where appropriate.
- Identify and report asset-related safety risks and hazards.
