The Role
We're seeking an experienced and commercially minded Country Manager to lead our Food business across New Zealand. Reporting to the General Manager ANZ – Food & Pharmaceutical, you'll have full responsibility for the strategic direction, operational performance, commercial success, and people leadership of the New Zealand business.
Leading a high-performing team across laboratory operations, technical services, commercial, business development, and client services, you'll drive growth, strengthen customer relationships, champion innovation, and ensure our laboratories continue to deliver world-class quality, safety, and service.
The day to day
In this role, you'll:
- Lead the strategic direction and execution of the New Zealand Food business
- Drive operational excellence across multiple laboratory teams and disciplines
- Own the New Zealand P&L, budgets, revenue growth, and profitability
- Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team and build future capability
- Drive business development, client retention, and market growth initiatives
- Partner with ANZ and global teams to implement best practice and new technologies
- Champion digital transformation, automation, and continuous improvement
- Ensure excellence in quality, HSE, regulatory compliance, and audit readiness
- Build strong relationships with key customers, regulators, and industry bodies
- Identify investment opportunities and support long-term business growth
The essentials
We're looking for an experienced senior leader who brings:
- Significant leadership experience within laboratory operations or technical services
- Demonstrated success leading multi-site or multidisciplinary teams
- Strong commercial acumen with full P&L management experience
- Proven ability to develop and execute business strategy
- Experience leading organisational change and continuous improvement
- Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing capability
- Tertiary qualifications in Science, Food Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
