What you’ll do
Based at the iconic Tokaanu Power Station, this is a significant opportunity to shape the environmental future of one of Aotearoa New Zealand's leading renewable energy portfolios. As the Environmental Manager - North Island Renewables, you will lead the environmental programme across our North Island renewable generation assets, ensuring environmental excellence. Reporting to our GM - Environment, you'll oversee environmental management programmes, resource consent acquisition and compliance, and provide strategic environmental advice that enables sustainable operations.
This is a highly influential role where you'll build and maintain trusted relationships with mana whenua, regulatory authorities, community stakeholders, environmental groups and resource users. You'll lead a team of environmental specialists, drive continuous improvement across environmental systems and processes, and provide expert guidance on RMA requirements, environmental planning, project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
While your home base will be Tokaanu Power Station, you'll work across our North Island renewable assets, making a meaningful contribution to sustainable management of natural resources while supporting the country's renewable energy future.
What you’ll need
You're an experienced environmental leader who enjoys working with people as much as you do solving complex environmental challenges. You know how to build trusted relationships, navigate competing interests and provide practical advice that supports both compliance and business outcomes.
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline, along with proven experience in a similar environmental management role.
- Strong knowledge of the Resource Management Act, resource consenting processes and environmental planning
- Experience working with mana whenua and a proven ability to build positive relationships with councils, regulators and other external stakeholders
- Leadership experience, with the ability to guide and support a team of environmental professionals while managing multiple priorities
