What You’ll Do

We've got a great opportunity to join us as an Operator Maintainer - Operations at Tokaanu Power Station, part of the Tongariro Power Scheme, located at the southern end of Lake Taupō.

Reporting to the Tongariro Site Manager, you'll operate and maintain our generation plant, ensuring it runs safely, reliably and efficiently. This is a hands-on role where you'll work across operations and maintenance while contributing to the ongoing performance of one of New Zealand's most unique hydro schemes.

Responsibilities

• Operating and maintaining generation plant and auxiliary equipment
• Carrying out preventative and corrective operational and maintenance tasks in support of the Asset Management Plan
• Monitoring plant condition, identifying defects and taking appropriate action to maintain reliability
• Taking scheme HMI (Human Machine Interface) control of plant and equipment when required
• Maintaining operational records, procedures and plant documentation
• Supporting the planning and coordination of work activities to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
• Identifying opportunities to improve plant performance and the overall efficiency of the scheme.

What You’ll Need

Whether you've worked in hydro generation, electricity distribution, manufacturing or another industrial environment, we'd like to hear from you. Experience in hydro is an advantage, but it's not essential. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn, and we'll provide training to help you succeed.

• A technical qualification in electrical, mechanical or equivalent work experience
• National Certificate in Electrical Supply (Hydro Operator) Level 4 is desirable, but not essential
• Experience working in power generation, electricity distribution or another industrial or process environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
• A full, clean Driver Licence.

You will be computer literate and ideally live within reasonable proximity of the power scheme. If you don't have power generation experience but have transferable technical skills and the right attitude, we'll provide the training and support to help you build a successful career with Genesis.
