The Opportunity

Platform Portfolio is growing, and in order to scale, we are opening three Principal Engineer opportunities across Experience Modernisation, Integration Platforms, and Core Modernisation.

These roles will strengthen our technical leadership capability, elevate engineering standards, and help create clear technical career pathways as we continue to scale our Platform Portfolio capability for the future.

Principal Engineers play a critical role in shaping technical direction, influencing architecture and engineering practices, and supporting the delivery of reliable, scalable, and high-quality solutions. These positions provide the opportunity to work across teams and domains, solve complex challenges, and help grow engineering capability through technical leadership and mentoring.

We're looking for people who are passionate about engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and leveraging modern technologies to deliver meaningful outcomes.

In This Role You Will

• Provide technical leadership across a portfolio of products and services, influencing architecture, design decisions, engineering practices, and technology strategy
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, supporting teams in making sound decisions across scalability, security, reliability, quality, performance, risk, and maintainability
• Drive engineering excellence through the establishment and promotion of standards, patterns, frameworks, and best practices
• Partner closely with Product, UX/UI Design, Architecture, Platform, DevOps, Security, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions
• Identify technical opportunities, challenges, and risks early, helping teams navigate complexity and make informed trade-offs
• Mentor and support engineers across all levels, fostering technical growth, knowledge sharing, and a strong engineering culture
• Act as a leader of leaders, growing leadership capability across teams by coaching technical leaders, creating space for others to lead, and building confidence in decision-making
• Influence technology roadmaps and strategic initiatives, ensuring solutions align with both current needs and future aspirations
• Champion modern engineering approaches, including cloud-native development, automation, AI-assisted development, observability, and platform engineering practices
• Drive continuous improvement by evaluating emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering practices that can strengthen Platform Portfolio capabilities

About You

You are a highly experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, influencing technical direction, and enabling others to do their best work. You bring deep technical expertise, strong architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.

You may have experience in software engineering, platform engineering, integration, cloud technologies, solution architecture, or engineering leadership, but most importantly you have a track record of delivering technical outcomes and guiding others through influence rather than authority.
