Mō te tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for an STMS to join our Traffic team in Taranaki. You’ll lead temporary traffic management across a range of worksites, helping keep our people, customers and road users safe while delivering Good Work every day.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be out on site leading from the front, backing your crew and making sure traffic management is set up right, adjusted when needed, and packed down safely. We’re flat, friendly and low ego here, so you’ll work side by side with the team, bring solid judgement, and switch on when it counts. We are open to negotiating the location of the role, and welcome applicants from South Taranaki also.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise temporary traffic management across various worksites in line with approved plans, permit conditions and company procedures.

  • Oversee the safe set-up, maintenance, adjustment and pack-down of traffic management equipment and controls.

  • Monitor site conditions, identify hazards, and respond to changes that could affect safety or traffic flow.

  • Communicate clearly with crews, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders to keep work moving safely and efficiently.

  • Provide leadership on site, maintain required records, and stop work or escalate issues where unsafe conditions create risk.

  • Current STMS Cat A/B/C qualification and proven STMS experience.

  • A current Class 2 Full Driver Licence.

  • Strong traffic management knowledge, with confidence leading crews and making sound decisions on site.

  • A strong focus on safety, quality and doing the job right, especially when the pressure comes on.

  • A reliable, team-focused approach and the ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the role, including working outdoors and around live traffic.
