Structural Assessor

TOWER Insurance

As a proud Kiwi born and bred insurer, we pride ourselves in challenging status quo - and move fast to make things happen. We're here to create beautifully simple, rewarding experiences for our customers and communities, and we're working hard to protect the future of Aotearoa.

At its heart, insurance is about helping people through the unexpected. Doing what's right for our customers - especially in tough times - gives real purpose to our work.

Your day-to-day would look like

  • Assessing and scoping residential property damage to accurately determine repair requirements and support fair, timely, and cost-effective claims outcomes.
  • Partnering with customers, contractors, suppliers, and claims teams to ensure repairs are appropriately scoped, coordinated, and delivered to agreed quality standards.
  • Ensuring claims and repair solutions align with policy conditions and Tower’s service expectations, delivering a positive customer experience throughout the claims process.

In your first 6-12 months, success will look like:

  • Assess structural damage to residential properties and determine appropriate repair requirements in line with policy conditions
  • Liaise with customers, contractors, repairers, approved suppliers and internal teams to agree repair actions and support timely claim outcomes.
  • Review scopes, quotes and invoices to ensure repair costs are accurate, reasonable and consistent with procurement agreements and agreed practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of contractor rates, repair methods, building standards and relevant industry practices.
  • Support effective supplier relationships and ensure repair work meets agreed quality, compliance and service standards.
  • Ensure compliance with agreed pricing.

To thrive in this role, you'll need

  • Hands-on experience assessing structural damage and applying structural repair procedures and standards
  • Experience working with contractors, repairers, suppliers and customers to support property repair outcomes.
  • Experience in administration, cost control, invoice checking and report preparation.
  • Insurance claims or residential property repair experience would be beneficial.
  • Building trade or associated qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of structural repair procedures, building standards, the Building Act and health and safety requirements.
  • Understanding of building contracts, repair scopes, contractor pricing and supplier service delivery.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, web-based systems and digital images to support assessment and reporting activity.

We invest in you.

We're serious about looking after our people. Along with a competitive salary, we offer a bunch of perks and benefits to support you and celebrate the work you do:

  • 26 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary carer and 4 weeks for partners
  • A paid day off on your birthday

  • Wellness leave - no need to justify your mental health day
  • Career growth and internal progression opportunities
  • Flexible working and a beautiful, modern office in Auckland
  • Discounts on Tower insurance products
