This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has built a successful career in the electrical industry and is ready for a new challenge - sharing their expertise, supporting learners and helping shape New Zealand's future electrical workforce.
You'll deliver engaging theory and practical training, assess learners, and contribute to developing high-quality training resources. No teaching experience? No problem. If you have strong industry knowledge and a passion for developing others, we'll support you to gain the adult teaching qualifications you need.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver engaging classroom and practical electrotechnology training
- Assess learner competency and provide constructive feedback
- Develop and maintain high-quality training materials and practical learning resources
- Deliver training covering electrical theory, regulations, standards, and industry best practice
- Stay up to date with industry developments and emerging technologies
- Work collaboratively with the wider training team to continuously improve learning programmes
What you'll bring
- A current New Zealand Electrical Registration (Full Practising Licence, Inspector's Licence, or an equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification)
- Hold Unit Standard 4098 and Unit Standard 11551, or be working towards them. If you don't currently hold these, you'll need to be willing to obtain them with Skills Group's support as part of your professional development.
- Strong practical experience in the electrical industry
- Ideally, experience in adult education or training (although we can support you to develop in this area)
- Strong communication and coaching skills, with a passion for developing others
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with PV solar systems is advantageous
Why join us?
At Skills Group, we're passionate about developing New Zealand's future workforce. You'll join a supportive team where your industry expertise will directly influence the next generation of electrical professionals while continuing to grow your own career.
You'll enjoy
- Health & wellbeing: Fully subsidised Southern Cross medical insurance, TELUS Health EAP, and annual flu vaccinations
- Flexible work & leave: Flexible working arrangements, birthday leave, long service leave, and enhanced bereavement leave
- Financial benefits: 3.5% KiwiSaver contribution, 2% SuperLife contribution, and a $500 employee referral bonus
- Learning & development: LinkedIn Learning access, Future Fit development opportunities, paid professional development, and support to gain adult teaching qualifications
If you're looking for a rewarding career where you can share your knowledge, inspire others, and make a lasting impact on New Zealand's electrical industry, we'd love to hear from you!
